Artistic Foundations & Pedigree
Born in Leningrad (St. Petersburg) in 1964, Maya spent her weekends as a child at the Hermitage and Russian museums with her mother. Those early hours shaped everything.
Her formal training began at age six. She graduated in 1987 with a Master's Degree in Graphic Art from the St. Petersburg State Academy of Industrial and Applied Art, then worked as a book illustrator and mural artist before immigrating to Canada in 1990.
Two Worlds, One Vision
The vibrant, emotive palette of the Post-Impressionists. Matisse, Gauguin, Renoir.
The structural discipline of the Russian Avant-Garde. Rodchenko and Malevich.
Two traditions. One unmistakable vision.
